Music To My Ears

Music is such a beautiful gift. So many different types of melodies for so many different occasions. We use it to move our bodies, nourish our souls and relax our minds. No wonder the expression “music to my ears” symbolizes a satisfaction full filled.
Apart from classical music during an epsom salt bath, jazz during a cozy get together or a hip hop and pop genre to dance to, I simply love jamming to my music during a workout. IT gives me strength that I never knew existed and allows me to push to my limits. The songs I choose to listen to are inspirational and have uplifting beats. Remember that listening to inspirational lyrics can really affect your state of being. Just like a sad song can make you cry remembering past events.
My recent choices of inspirational music stem from many different artists. One of my favorite movies is The Greatest Showman. For example, from the song “This Is Me” here are some words:
When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I’m gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I’m meant to be, this is me
Look out ’cause here I come
And I’m marching on to the beat I drum
I’m not scared to be seen
I make no apologies, this is meI
Another one is from the song “From Now On”:
I drank champagne with kings and queens
The politicians praised my name
But those are someone else’s dreams
The pitfalls of the man I became
For years and years
I chased their cheers
The crazy speed of always needing more
But when I stop
And see you here
I remember who all this was for
Another great song is “High Hopes” because the words are beautiful and the rhythm gets me moving. Some of the words are:
Had to have high, high hopes for a living
Shooting for the stars when I couldn’t make a killing
Didn’t have a dime but I always had a vision
Always had high, high hopes
Had to have high, high hopes for a living
Didn’t know how but I always had a feeling
I was gonna be that one in a million
Gavin Degraw is also a great artist and his song “I Don’t Want To Be” is also on my list of faves at the moment. Especially this verse:
I don’t want to be anything
Other than what I’ve been trying to be lately
All I have to do is think of me and I have peace of mind
I’m tired of looking around rooms wondering what I gotta do
Or who I’m supposed to be
I don’t want to be anything other than me
There are many different artists who set out to lift up and inspire others with their music. These are just a few of the ones I enjoy listening to when it comes to working out. Many people pour out their heart and soul into the work that they do, the songs that they bring to life. We can only be so grateful to enjoy such wonderful sounds, whether it be the drums in a scottish folk song, the violin in classical music, the voice of an opera singer, the guitarist in a country song, the list is endless. May we stop to recognize how fortunate we are to give such pleasure to our worlds and bringing music to our ears!
